Most Popular Video Game Patterns
This curated list brings together iconic patterns from three major game franchises:
**Minecraft (4)**: Creeper Face, Steve Face, Ender Dragon, Diamond Sword, and more. Minecraft's pixel aesthetic is a natural fit for fuse beads β every game element is already blocky.
**PokΓ©mon (4)**: Pikachu, PokΓ© Ball, Mew, Eevee Evolutions, and more. PokΓ©mon have bold colors and high-recognition silhouettes, making them the most popular choice for keychains and magnets.
**Mario (2)**: Super Mushroom, Mario Face, and more. Mario's classic palette (red, green, yellow, brown) happens to be exactly what comes in standard fuse bead starter packs.
Iconic Character Patterns
What makes a pattern "instantly recognizable"? Three factors: **distinctive silhouette** (you can guess it from just the outline), **signature colors** (recognizable even reduced to 2-3 colors), and **bold composition** (fills the grid, not too much empty space).
The most iconic patterns in our Awesome list:
β’ **Creeper Face** β two-tone, silhouette is iconic
β’ **Pikachu** β yellow + red + black, 100% recognizable
β’ **Darth Vader** β all black with white eye slits, pure menace
β’ **Super Mushroom** β the classic red-and-white combo
Even from a distance, these patterns are immediately identifiable β making them top choices for display pieces and gifts.
Showpiece Patterns for Desks & Shelves
If you've done some easy patterns and want to tackle a larger project for a desk display, these showpiece patterns are ideal (medium+ difficulty, 150+ beads):
β’ Ender Dragon (20x20, 400 beads, 8 colors)
β’ Diamond Sword (16x16, 256 beads, 5 colors)
β’ Pikachu (12x14, 168 beads, 5 colors)
β’ Mew (12x14, 168 beads, 3 colors)
β’ Eevee Evolutions (20x12, 240 beads, 9 colors)
β’ Mario Face (16x16, 256 beads, 8 colors)
These patterns finish larger (about 3-7cm) with rich detail β they have real presence on a desk, shelf, or next to your monitor. For the best display effect, mount them in a shadow box frame with a dark background.
How We Picked the Awesome List
This list isn't random. We used four criteria to curate:
1. **Recognition** β you can identify the character/item without reading the name
2. **Visual impact** β the finished piece is colorful, high-contrast, and looks good
3. **Community popularity** β frequently made and shared in Perler/fuse bead communities (Reddit r/perlerbeads, Pinterest, Etsy)
4. **Coverage** β spans different IPs, difficulties, and sizes so every type of crafter finds something
This list is continuously updated. If you think a character should be here but isn't, use the generator at the bottom of this page to make your own!

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between Awesome and Mini?
Mini is filtered by size (8x8-12x12 small patterns), ideal for keychains and small accessories. Awesome is curated by visual impact and recognition β it includes patterns of all sizes that are iconic, making them better for display pieces and gifts.
Can I sell crafts made from these patterns?
Handmade pieces from these patterns can be sold at craft fairs, markets, and on Etsy. However, IP-related designs (PokΓ©mon, Mario, Star Wars, etc.) are trademarks of their respective companies β don't mass-produce or claim official licensing. Small-scale personal crafting sales are generally fine.
Why isn't [character X] on the list?
It may not have high enough recognition, the pixel version doesn't look great, or it lacks community popularity. You can use our AI pattern generator to make any character you like!
How big do these finish?
Depends on size: 8x8 β 2cm, 12x12 β 3cm, 15x15 β 3.75cm, 20x15 β 5x3.75cm, 29x29 β 7.25cm. Based on 5mm standard beads (Artkal Midi or Perler).
How many colors do I need?
Each pattern lists its colorCount. Awesome patterns average 3-5 colors. We recommend buying a basic multi-color starter set (20+ colors) to cover most patterns.
Are there 3D versions?
Some Awesome patterns can be made as 3D standing figures. Check our 3D Perler Beads guide to learn how to turn flat patterns into dimensional pieces.
